This Morning's Gino D’Acampo announces he's taking a break from the show

"I was just walking around because I am a little bit sad."

Gino D'Acampo fans will be missing This Morning for the next few months.

The chef announced he will be taking a break from the ITV programme as he heads to Italy with his family.

"I was just walking around because I am a little bit sad today because I am going to go to Italy very soon, so this is my last This Morning, until probably autumn or winter," he said on the show today (March 29).

"Unless you two are going to come to the island of Sardinia and do something live there," he added.

"Maybe we can do something down the line from Sardinia, yes. Where is my camera, where is my audience, where is my fans?

"Do not panic, because I have so many beautiful things for you."

Gino then squeezed himself in the middle of presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby adding: "Why do I always have to end in the kitchen? This way we can all stay together."

This Morning has undergone many changes recently.

family fortunes

Holly took some time off earlier in the year while she presented upcoming BBC show Superstar Survival with Lee Mack.

When she returned, she then tested positive for COVID and was absent again.

Holly was replaced by Josie Gibson as she had to isolate at home.

Updating viewers on how his usual co-host was dealing with the virus, Schofield said: "Welcome to your Monday this morning, Josie is back! I've been texting Holly all through the weekend and she's absolutely fine.

"She just has that incredibly persistent and annoying red line that won't go away. So she'll be sitting at home – it's driving her crazy."

Schofield previously tested positive for COVID, and was forced to miss part of Dancing on Ice having been replaced by Stephen Mulhern.

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV.
