Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Wednesday's first-look episode, which is available to watch now on All 4. As these scenes haven't yet aired on TV, this article contains storyline details that some viewers may prefer to avoid.
Hollyoaks has confirmed the tragic future of Luke Morgan's storyline in a new flashforward scene.
Wednesday's first-look edition ended with an upsetting moment, as Luke's son Ollie was seen grieving for him in a glimpse of the future.
Hollyoaks' latest episode saw Ollie take on a poignant film project with Luke as his focus.
Ollie hoped that discussions about the past and watching old tapes would help Luke to deal with his dementia.
The teen started to interview Luke outside The Dog, but his father's short attention span made things difficult.
As Luke struggled to stay focused for long enough, Ollie resorted to Plan B by interviewing friends and family about his life instead.
Later, there was a touching moment at The Dog as Cindy, Luke, Zara, Tony, Diane and Darren all spent time together.
Zara made a speech looking to the future, reminding everyone: "On July 7, my big brother gets to marry Cindy. And I want her to know how lucky he is to have her in his life. And I couldn't ask for a better sister-in-law."
Luke and Cindy then publicly declared their love for each other, with Ollie recording their heartfelt words on his video camera.
A flashforward scene then showed Ollie dressed for a funeral, watching the footage back in very different circumstances.
A tearful Ollie headed towards a coffin in the Morgan family dining room, laying down a funeral order of service dated July 7.
It read: "In loving memory and celebration for the life of Luke Morgan."
Addressing the coffin, Ollie said: "I love you, dad."
Hollyoaks now streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
