Strictly Come Dancing contestant John Whaite received a glowing video tribute from the mighty Mary Berry tonight (November 27).
Together with professional partner Johannes Radebe, the baker wowed the judges with an Argentine Tango to David Garrett's 'The 5th', before co-presenter Claudia Winkleman set up this Great British Bake Off reunion.
"An avid fan has been following your progress..." she teased, as Mary appeared on the screen behind her.
"Now John, I knew that you were a Star Baker, but gosh you've done brilliantly on Strictly," she smiled. "I'm very, very proud of you and good luck in the rest of the competition!"
John proceeded to blow kisses at the camera, while viewers writing on Twitter were equally as touched by the baking icon's message.
"Crikey. When I was a kid, the closest we got to gay representation on TV was Todd Grimshaw giving Nick a peck on the lips in Corrie. Now, we've got Mary Berry congratulating John and Johannes on a tango so raunchy it blew the back off my telly. Progress, folks," read one response.
"Oh, Tilly is Gordon Ramsey's daughter, is she? Well John's got DAME MARY BERRY," joked someone else, before a third tweeted: "MARY BERRY ?!?! I Would cry die and claim myself a winner right there and then."
Back in 2012, a 23-year-old John was crowned the champion of GBBO when it still aired on BBC Two; he's since gone on to publish four cookery books.
Strictly Come Dancing 2021 airs on Saturday nights on BBC One, with results shows every Sunday. Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
