The Great British Bake Off Caramel Week spoilers follow.
The latest eliminated baker of The Great British Bake Off has penned a sweet letter to his co-stars after leaving his apron behind.
Tonight's (November 2) episode saw the bakers dealing with the dreaded Caramel Week, where challenges included classic caramel tarts, a biscuit bar and desserts encased in a sugar or isomalt dome.
Alas, getting that caramel texture right is a tricky affair and George's caramel-verging-on-toffee didn't quite convince the judges, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. Despite an impressive showstopper challenge – including a nearly flawless dome made of sugar – the baker had to leave the tent.
Following the elimination, George wrote a heartfelt letter thanking all those he has met in the "tent of dreams".
"As sad as I am to be leaving the tent of dreams, I have made some memories that will be in my heart forever," the baker wrote.
"I am so grateful to have been part of something so special and also be lucky enough to leave this experience with lifelong friends," he continued.
George then gave a lovely shoutout to his wife and kids "who had to cope with weeks of frantic baking, meltdowns and a very messy kitchen!"
He is the seventh baker to leave the show, thus leaving Chigs, Crystelle, Giuseppe, Jürgen and Lizzie to compete for the title of best baker.
The Great British Bake Off airs on Tuesdays at 8pm Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
